Basketball - Lesson 2

 

I. Passing

a.      Class Name: grades 6 - 8

b.      Skill Level: Control to utilization

c.      Length of Time: 40 minutes

d.      Number of Meetings: 2

e.      Major Focus: Proper techniques for the chest pass and the bounce pass

II. Safety

a.      Activity: remove all jewelry, no chewing gum, spatial awareness, students must stay under control at all times, controlled passing, NO Interference with other students

III. Equipment

a.      1 basketball for each student

IV. Objectives

a.      Psychomotor: proper chest and bounce pass techniques, finger pads, hands behind ball, elbows out, ball thrown form midsection, follow through, thumbs point outward

b.      Cognitive: understanding when to use a chest or bounce pass, daily self assessment

c.      Affective: encouragement, advice, peer teaching, cooperation with a partner or small group
