I. 3 on 3 Tournament

a.      Class Name: grades 6 - 8

b.      Skill Level: Control to utilization

c.      Length of Time: 40 minutes

d.      Number of Meetings: 9

e.      Major Focus: basketball rules and regulations in a small game setting, sportsmanship, fair play

II. Safety

a.      Activity: remove all jewelry, no chewing gum, spatial awareness, students must stay under control at all times, NO Interference with other students

III. Equipment

a.      six basketballs

IV. Objectives

a.      Psychomotor: proper form and technique while performing various basketball skills in a game situation

b.      Cognitive: understanding the rules and regulations of a basketball game

c.      Affective: encouragement, advice, team play, sportsmanship

            half court games

            first to 5 baskets is the winner

            basket is worth 1 point

            make boundaries according to area

            offense checks ball in to defense before each play

            students officiate own games

            The games are played as a preliminary round for seeding in the 3 on 3 tournament.  The tournament will be a single elimination venue where an eventual champion for each grade level will be crowned.
