Frisbee – Lesson 2

 

I. Throwing, Catching, Captain Disc & Double Disc Court

a.      Class Name: grades 6 - 8

b.      Skill Level: Control to utilization

c.      Length of Time: 40 minutes

d.      Number of Meetings: 2

e.      Major Focus: proper grips & techniques for throwing and catching, hitting a target both stationary & moving, peer assessment

II. Safety

a.      Activity: remove all jewelry, no chewing gum, spatial awareness, students must stay under control at all times, controlled throwing, NO Interference with other students

III. Equipment

a.      10 Frisbees

b.      cones

c.      hoops

d.      multi-colored pinnies (# depends on class size)

IV. Objectives

a.      Psychomotor: proper throwing and catching techniques, aim and directional throwing

b.      Cognitive: understanding the proper grips and when to use them, following the rules of the games, daily self assessment

c.      Affective: encouragement, advice, peer teaching, cooperation with a partner or small group
