            safety - see safety above

b.      Content

            1. students form 8 to 10 teams within the class

            2. each team should:

get a Island Hopping Task Sheet and Island Hopping Student Steps Sheet printed from the web form, a pencil and a clip board

              make up a team name

set roles for each team member - discussion leader, equipment, spokesman, secretary/scribe, tester...

have the scribe fill out the form up until the initial planning phase on the task sheet, at this time the secretary may begin to enter that data to the web form on the computer

while the scribe is filling out the task sheet the others can be forming a plan (strategy) using brainstorming techniques, rational problem solving, and group discussion

once the scribe has finished writing the initial plan the team may then execute their plan to cross the ocean (gym floor) using the scooter board, rope and islands

once the team has tried the initial plan they should note any modifications in the 'revised plan' text area on both the task sheet and the web form

once finished, the team should debrief and write responses in the 'debrief' text area on both the task sheet and the web form

check student work on the web form prior to having them submit the assignment

c.          Extensions

have a Challenge Activities Interschool Event: two schools perform the same activity and compare and contrast the results

d.          Closure

What were some examples of team modifications made after the initial planning and attempt?
